Give a Kid a Camera - The Estate Sale Edition

I have this friend named Mandy.

She's a cabaret performer.

Not long ago she decided to sell off everything she owns
that won't fit into two suitcases and travel the world.

I am so glad I know people like this for several reasons.

Cabaret performers selling their stuff means costume bonanza for me

I get to live vicariously through her journey.

The Wee Ones and I showed up bright and early for her estate sale.

I was seriously disappointed that her electric scooter had already been sold.

But when you have all of this to comb through it's hard to be anything but excited.

and then I remembered, Mandy is a size 2 and I.  Well I'm not.

And so I restrained myself to everything else

Super Son, often left behind on my girly trips to whimsy land was pleased that I let him take the camera to record for posterity our adventure...

and then he found something that spoke to him.

Miss Thing requested this to wear to church next Sunday.

And you think I'm just being funny.

I'm sure Father Bud will be pleased to know that I was able to distract her
with the table full of jewelry

And a few feather boas.

You can never have enough of those.

Super Son grew bored with us and went on his own adventure.

Wherein he found

A sassy little sister

and a bulldog named Mac that obliged him by humping his leg.

I only wish I had the camera then instead of him cause the look on his face was priceless.

All said and done I wound up with some cool vintage hairpieces, a belt and some scarves.

Super Son got an old fashioned popcorn popper and the fishing kit.

Miss Thing, well, she ended up with everything else.

Happy Journey Mandy Girl!  We will miss you!

  1. Wow, I am so flattered that you took the time to create this. You are too much. The sale wouldn't have been the same without you. It warms my heart to know that some of my cabaret treasures are in your home and are being used! Love you!!!

  2. I loved it too! Wish I could have been a fly on the wall but I probably would have had to swoop down and cross your palm with a little silver for some of those treasures. Does this mean that some of MawMaw's jewelry has found a new home? Hope they all get treated like the "gems" they are! xoxo Aunt S. ♥
